KPI 1 | INCIDENTAL ANIMAL SIGHTINGS

Essential to the safeguarding of the wildlife and ecosystems within Karingani is the inclusion of the security teams
towards the collection of valuable ecological data. This report period we continue with the recording and reporting
of incidental animal sightings by all the staff moving across Karingani in their daily activities helps encourage and
unify everyone towards the ultimate goals of conservation. Over time these recorded sightings offer valuable insight
to the trends of spatial and density distribution of the animal species in Karingani and can guide management in the
placement of game drive roads and species-specific likelihood of sightings per region of the reserve, included in
which are the more rarely seen species in formal game count initiatives. Once we have long-term trend data these
will valuable statistics will be reported with a more detailed analysis.
