ENERGY AND CARBON
RESULTS
KPI 1 | REDUCED CARBON FOOTPRINT
In line with our targets to minimise and support efficient use of energy, this reporting period has seen continued
data towards establishing baselines of current energy consumption and carbon emissions for their consideration
and potential future reduction. As data collection and efficiency improves over this report period and those to follow,
we hope to establish a benchmark level of consumption and emissions that will guide our sustainability protocols.
Still under development we hope to have some form of short-term trend data by the end of the next report period.
DIESEL AND PETROL CONSUMPTION
Using the ‘United States Protection Agency’ standards of conversion regarding the carbon dioxide coefficients of
emission³ the following emissions have been established. It is our intent to add resolution to this over time, ultimately
to report on the different forms and activities that contribute towards carbon emissions, with the intent to be able to
isolate and reduce per category where possible.
SECURITY
>76 tons Carbon production from 90 tons Total carbon dioxide emissions
29 300 litres of diesel
>14 tons Carbon consumption from
5 340 litres of petrol - 42 tons Decrease from 2019-2020
OPERATIONS
>214 tons Carbon production from
8 2270 litres of diesel 234 tons Total carbon dioxide emissions
>21 tons Carbon consumption from + 9 tons Increase from 2019-2020
7 990 litres of petrol
CONSERVATION
Carbon production from 2 tons Total carbon dioxide emissions
>2 tons 820 litres of diesel and petrol
- 6 tons Decrease from 2019-2020
LODGE AND TOURISM (SUNGULO)
>23 tons Carbon production from 23 tons Total carbon dioxide emissions
8 700 litres of diesel and petrol
- 10 tons Decrease from 2019-2020
COMMUNITY (INTERNAL ALLOCATION)
>4 tons Carbon production from 4 tons Total carbon dioxide emissions
1 490 litres of diesel and petrol
- 2 ton Decrease from 2019-2020
GRAND TOTAL CARBON EMISSIONS
Carbon dioxide emissions
351.81 tons recorded during the report -50.84 tons Decrease from 2019-2020
period
Note: Energy and consumption, protocols and data collection, are still under development. The
expectation is to improve resolution and accuracy over time, to allow accurate assessment of trends.
