Kruger National Park - Ongoing collaboration with the Kruger National Park, South Africa, in the security arena with
particular focus on rhino and elephant protection within the landscape.
KU Leuven - Despite the travel restrictions imposed over this report period by COVID 19, the long-term collaboration
remains in tact. Additional fresh water ecology and pan surveys are scheduled for 2022. This report period Karingani
co-authored a scientific paper published in the journal of ecology “Co-occurrence of large branchiopods and killifish
in African savannah ponds.”
North-West University, South Africa - Zoology and Entomology Departments – With travel restrictions due to
COVID, amphibian research was postponed to upcoming report periods.
The Malilangwe Trust - Ongoing collaboration with the Malilangwe Trust, Zimbabwe, with the upcoming translocation
of large herbivores into Karingani.
Peace Parks Foundation (PPF) – Holding bomas and species donation towards population re-enforcement of
leopards, lions, hyena and side-striped Jackal into Zinave National Park.
Save the Elephants – Data sharing towards understanding the temporal movements of elephants and their
subsequent impact on the greater GLTFCA landscape.
Save the Survivors – This report period saw the collaboration with Saving the Survivors in the capture, technical
assistance and temporary holding of hyena translocated from the private sector of the GLC into Zinave National park.
WWF Black Rhino Range Expansion Program (BRREP) - Continued collaboration with the WWF Black Rhino Range
Expansion Program, aiming to establish Karingani as the primary recipient of Black rhino from the South African
BRREP meta-population in the upcoming translocations for 2022.
