Leeds Utd caused one of the surprises of the round when they defeated
Stoke City 3-1. With the prize of a tie against Arsenal on offer for the
winners, Danielle Whitham scored a goal in each half an Amy Woodruff
added the other to give the Division One North side
a superb result against their opponents from the
league above, whose consolation came from Kelsey
       Richardson.
Burnley FC Women were pushed all the
way when winning 1-0 against Norwich City and
they will take on Cardiff City Ladies for a place in
the last sixteen. Millie Ravening scored the only goal
of the game during the first half for Jonathan
       Morgan's side.
West Bromwich Albion will have a plum
tie at home to Brighton & Hove Albion following
their 3-2 success away to Liverpool Feds. Mariam
Mahmood was on target twice for Albion, along with
an own goal, whilst the Feds' replies came from Ellie
       Stewart and another own goal.
Sunderland meanwhile set themselves up a
meeting with Manchester Utd after winning their Hannah Greenwood of Durham Women under pressure
all-Championship tie 1-0 away to Blackburn from Peterborough Utd’s Cassie Steward (Will Cheshire).
Rovers. Neve Herron converted a cross from Emily
Scarr on the hour for the only goal of the game.
A goal on the quarter hour from Harley Bennett saw London City Lionesses to a hard fought
1-0 victory over Portsmouth and they will now be taking on Tottenham Hotspur in an intriguing
       Fourth Round tie.
AFC Wimbledon were another side to knock out higher division opposition when they beat
Gillingham 1-0. Ellie Dorey netted the game's only goal to set her side up with a Fourth Round tie
against Charlton Athletic (see match report).
Charlton themselves were 3-1 winners over Milton Keynes Dons, taking the lead from the
penalty spot through Melissa Johnson after Dons goalkeeper Chloe Sansom had saved an earlier kick
from Emily Simpkins. Mollie Coupar equalised for the Dons midway through the second half but
Charlton were to have the final say and late strikes from Elisha N'Dow and Johnson sealed the victory.
Peterborough Utd gave a good account of themselves when going down 1-0 to Durham
Women. The Posh Women defended resiliently against their Championship opponents and a
moment of quality was to decide the game, with a spectacular 30-yard strike from Rio Hardy settling
the match in the Wildcats' favour.
Durham's next opponents will be Crystal Palace who advanced with a 5-1 victory over
Watford. Hollie Olding gave Palace an early lead, with Annabel Blanchard adding a brace ahead of
half time. Polly Doran increased the lead a minute after the restart and after Jade Bradley pulled a
goal back for Watford, Elise Hughes rounded off the scoring for Dean Davenport's side.
Three second half goals helped Birmingham City on their way to a 4-0 win against
Huddersfield Town and a Fourth Round trip to Everton. An own goal gave the Blues an early lead
and they went on to seal the result with goals after the break from Lucy Quinn, Jamie Finn and Jade
       Pennock.
Sheffield Utd were another Championship side to safely negotiate an awkward tie with high
riding FAWNL opposition as they defeated Nottingham Forest 3-0. The first half was goalless but
after the break, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk put the Blades ahead and further goals from Rebecca
Rayner and Mia Enderby secured them a plum away tie against Manchester City.
Lewes will be away to Ipswich Town after running out 5-0 winners over London Bees.
Emma Thompson put the Rookettes in front from the penalty spot and after Ellie Mason made it two
with a powerful strike, Thompson netted her second just ahead of half time. Libby Copus-Brown
made it four after the break and Emily Kraft rounded off the scoring late on.
