Woking Ladies 6 Seaford Town 0
Woking moved into the Third Qualifying
Round of the Vitality FA Women's Cup with a
convincing 6-0 home win over Seaford Town. It
was something of a six-Card trick by the home
team as there were six different scorers for
Woking against their Sussex County League
Premier Division opponents.
Little had suggested the wide margin of
victory in an even first quarter of an hour with
both teams moving the ball neatly without
really testing either goalkeeper. The best move
of the half led to the opening goal as the ball
was moved left to right before a shot from
distance hit the bar and was turned home by
Natasha Thompson on 15 minutes. Brooke Pallant tries to win the ball from Trudy Bryan-Kerr

as the break approached but there were no
further goals. This was rectified within two minutes of the restart as a corner was cleared to
the edge of the area and was cleverly lofted back by Angelina Stanzione beyond Seaford
keeper Holly Hutton on 47 minutes.
Two soon became three on 50 minutes with another neat finish this time by Trudy
Bryan-Kerr and then another well flighted corner led to the fourth as Kaitlin Howard turn
the ball home from close range at the far post on 65 minutes as Woking threatened to run
away with the tie.
Second half substitute Leah Robertson had been a constant threat to the Seaford
defence and scored arguably the goal of the match, judging the flight of a lofted free kick
perfectly to control and slip the ball past the advancing Hutton on 69 minutes.
The visitors kept battling away had their best spell as the match reached the last fifteen
minutes, forcing two corners and a couple of scrambles in the Woking penalty area. Home
keeper Roz Markham fielded a long range effort on 82 minutes and then was beaten by a
superbly powerful Paris Akehurst free kick which somehow managed to strike the woodwork
twice before rebounding away to safety.
Denied a consolation goal, Seaford then conceded a late sixth as another long range
shot by Tor Linehan flew beyond Hutton on 88 minutes to give the final score a rather harsh
look. Woking had played really well with strong defence and good movement and interplay,
especially in the second half, but Seaford had worked hard to contribute to a good FA Cup
match.
