Cirencester Town Ladies
Cirencester were one of the original teams to join the
Gloucestershire County league when it was founded in 1998. Having
played a few season prior to this, 1st in the local village of Siddington
and then moving to Cirencester Town Football Club. Cirencester won
promotion as division champions to the South West Women’s
Regional league in 2005 but came back down to the Gloucestershire
County Women’s League a few seasons later. Player numbers
allowed Cirencester to run two teams for a couple of seasons before
going back down to one, then being unable to field a team for 2
seasons in the senior league. Thankfully after a few seasons the
Cirencester Girls team running in the Gloucestershire County Girls
league reached an age to be able to play open aged football and
they moved up and reformed the Cirencester Town Ladies team in
2018. The Centurions have reached the League cup final on 3 other
occasions but never have managed to win it. They have won the
Gloucestershire County women’s Challenge cup twice.
Cirencester have had a mixed season in the league currently sitting
in 4th place, the same place as they finished last season which they
were hoping to better this season but looks like a tough task.
