conclusion of the 2022-23 season.
West Ham United can confirm Paul Konchesky has left his role as manager of the women’s first
team.
Konchesky, who was appointed manager in May 2022, was in the dugout for the final time
on Saturday, when the women’s team played host to Tottenham Hotspur at the Chigwell
Construction Stadium, as the Barclays Women’s Super League 2022-23 campaign reached its
conclusion. The resulting 2-2 draw meant that the Hammers finished the season in eighth place
in the WSL.
The former Hammers and England left back departs having overseen 29 matches in
charge in all competitions, having previously been assistant manager.
Arsenal are delighted to confirm that Frida Maanum has signed a new contract with the club.
Frida joined the Gunners in July 2021 from Linkopings FC in Sweden and has since made 78
appearances, scoring 20 goals.
Frida made 40 appearances in her debut season with Arsenal, including 24 starts and 16
substitute appearances, with the Norwegian midfielder scoring four goals and providing two
assists.
Now 23, she enjoyed a stellar second campaign in N5, starting 32 of the 38 matches she
featured in and generating a return of 16 goals and nine assists – a team high for goal
involvements in the 2022-23 season.
In recognition of her impressive season, Frida was nominated for the PFA and Barclays
WSL Player of the Season awards and was chosen by the Arsenal Women Supporters’ Club as
their outstanding performer for the campaign. She was also voted by their supporters as the
Arsenal Player of the Month in both October and January.
At international level, Frida represented Norway at the UEFA European Championships
in 2017 and 2022, as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2019.
“It feels great – I love Arsenal and I’m looking forward to continuing my time here,” Frida
told www.arsenal.com. “This is a place where I can develop and learn from the players around
me and take steps both on and off the pitch.
"We’ve had some really special moments this season and the connection with our
supporters has been fantastic, so I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
Head Coach Jonas Eidevall added: “Frida has been one of the outstanding performers in
world football this season and we’re delighted that she has agreed a new deal with us. Since
joining us two seasons ago, Frida has developed into a wonderful player and has contributed an
impressive number of goals and assists this year.
"I believe there is a very high ceiling for what Frida can achieve in the game and I’m so
pleased she will continue to wear Arsenal colours moving forward.”
Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Everyone at Arsenal is delighted that
Frida has signed a new contract here with the club. At 23, Frida is already one of the most
exciting players in the game and we look forward to watching her continue to excel in red and
white for years to come.”
Arsenal have also announced that Lydia Bedford has left their women’s coaching set up to
take up the position of head coach of Brentford U18s men's team.
Bedford joined Jonas Eidevall's team as an assistant coach in February 2023, following a
