Sheffield Utd have returned to the top of the FA Women's
Championship, after they won 3-0 against Crystal Palace.
The first half was goalless as Palace defended very well but their
resistance was broken three minutes after the restart when Jade
Pennock put United in front. Pennock turned provider as she set up Courtney
Sweetman-Kirk for the second and Katie Wilkinson completed the scoring. With
Durham Women not having a game, the Blades therefore move above them on goal
difference.
Leicester City lost ground on the top two as they were beaten for the first time,
4-1 by London City Lionesses. It looked as though the Foxes might be on their way
towards another win when Paige Bailey-Gayle put them in the lead midway through the
first half but the Lionesses responded quickly and Atlanta Primus equalised four
minutes later. Primus then scored her second five minutes after the interval and Lily Agg
broke through to make it three. Ellie Mason then rounded off a fine day and result for
her club by scoring the final goal, nine minutes from time.
Liverpool have moved back above Leicester into third place after sharing a 2-2
draw with Lewes, whose own good start continued. Amalie Thestrup gave Liverpool the
lead on 25 minutes, with Katie Rood levelling the scores just before half time. Rinsola
Babajide put the Reds back in front before the hour but the Rookettes hit back once
again, substitute Ellie Hack equalising with sixteen minutes to go, to earn Lewes a share
of the spoils and stretch their unbeaten league run to five matches.
London Bees recorded their first
