The Genero Adran Premier made its return on Sunday and in the Championship Conference, there
was a top of the table clash with current leaders Cardiff City Women travelling to last season’s
Champions Swansea City. It was end to end action in the first half, but it took until the 43rd
minute for Stacey John-Davies to break the deadlock and send the Swans in 1-0 up at half time.
Danielle Broadhurst didn’t let them have the lead for long however, equalising six minutes into the
second half. A handball in the box gave John-Davies her second of the game from the spot and it
looked like it would be the winner, however league top scorer, Phoebie Poole had the final word,
getting the equaliser in the seventh minute of additional time for a 2-2 draw.
Elsewhere, Cardiff Met Women headed to Park Hall to take on The New Saints. It was
the sixth time the two had met, with the Archers taking the win every previous time. TNS opened
the scoring with Helen Evans heading in a cross from Caitlin Chapman and they doubled their lead
five minutes from time, Emily Ridge solo and beating the keeper to seal a 2-0 win.
Over in the Plate Conference, both Pontypridd Utd and Aberystwyth Town were
looking to overcome disappointment from their last fixtures as they met each other. The Seasiders
took the look after twelve minutes, Tania Wylde converting a penalty after Amy Jenkins was fouled
by the keeper. Liv Francis equalised just before the half hour and it was visitors Pontypridd who
took the three points with another dramatic late goal, Carys Bufton grabbing a second for United
in the 89th minute. Barry Town Utd meanwhile welcomed Abergavenny Women to Jenner
Park as the race to avoid relegation began. It was another close fought battle that looked like it was
going to be concluded with points shared, but Pennies’ top scorer Alana Murphy added to her tally
on the 85th minute to give Abergavenny a precious 1-0 victory.
While there was no change in the
standings in the table, the Genero Adran
