second half but the Hammers fought back late on and Dagny Brynjarsdottir bundled home
the equalsier deep into injury time.
Extra time could not produce a winner but to force another 30 minutes, but neither
side could find a winner. This gave way to an epic penalty shootout with both sides regularly
finding the net with one miss each until it came down to the goalkeepers, Hannah Hampton
converting hers before her counterpart Mackenzie Arnold missed for the Hammers.

Bristol City played their game in hand on London City Lionesses in
midweek, and opened up a lead of three points at the top of the table, thanks
to a 1-0 victory away to Lewes. The Robins faced an awkward trip to the
Dripping Pan, where the home side had booked their place in the quarter
finals of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup a few days earlier, but a goal from
Shania Hayles just before the hour mark settled a tight match and saw her
side regain the leadership, whilst returning herself to the top of the division’s
goalscoring charts.
Crystal Palace continued their upsurge in form and cemented themselves in the top
half of the table by beating Sheffield Utd 2-1 on Sunday. A win would have taken the Blades
out of the bottom two but after Hollie Olding had
given Palace the lead just after the hour mark, Crystal Palace 2 (Olding 62, Haines 80)
and Rebecca Rayner had equalised, it was Coral- Sheffield Utd 1 (Rayner 75)
Jade Haines who settled matters in Palace’s -
favour with the winning goal, ten minutes from Lewes 0
time. Bristol City 1 (Hayles 58)
