Division One South West
With Cardiff City Ladies on Vitality Women's
FA Cup duty, Exeter City took an opportunity to
go seven points clear at the top by winning 3-0
away to Keynsham Town. Sarah Stacey gave
them the lead just before half time and late
strikes from Chloe Gilroy and Phoebe Baker
wrapped up the points.
Moneyfields are only three points behind
the top three after continuing their good run with Keynsham Town goalkeeper Charlotte Haynes claims a
a 1-0 success away to Maidenhead Utd. Kim cross against Exeter City.
Whitcombe settled matters with the only goal of
the game for the Moneys.
Portishead Town claimed their second win in a matter days, a 2-0 victory away to
Selsey Women. Both goals came in the first half, Rosie Hill giving Portishead an early lead
and Ellie Strippel adding the second on the stroke of half time.
Larkhall Athletic gave themselves a lifeline with a 2-1 win against Swindon Town
which narrows the gap on safety to three points. Mia Sparks gave the Larks an eighth minute
lead which was cancelled out before the break by Annabelle Colston, but Chloe Snook
grabbed a vital winning goal for Larkhall with fifteen minutes remaining.
In midweek, Cardiff City Ladies returned to league action and three late goals
helped them to a 4-0 win away to Keynsham Town, all four goals coming from
substitutes. The home side had the better chances in the first half but after the break, Ellie
Sargent put Cardiff in front and then a superb 20-yard strike put them two ahead. Ingrid
Aadland and Grace Horrell added further goals late on to seal the points. Shannon
Sievwright, Becky Barron, Hope Suominen and Katie Kingshott all got on the scoresheet as
Southampton Women shrugged off their Plate semi final defeat disappointment to beat
Selsey Women 4-1, Natasha Wild replying.
Reserve Section round-up
Newcastle Utd are through to the Final of the Reserves Plate, where they will play
Portsmouth, after beating Loughborough Lightning 4-1. Sophie Curle, Sharna
Wilkinson, Ava Chapman and Erin Nelson all scored for Newcastle, with Millie Quaintance
replying.
In the Northern Division, Leeds Utd caught up ground on the top two with a 4-0
victory over Chorley, Katie Astle netting twice along with Abbie Langstaff and Tally
Diamond. Lydia Maidens scored the only goal of the game for Middlesbrough against
Hull City and Bradford City defeated Stockport County 3-1 to move out of the bottom
two places.
The top of the table clash in the Midland Division saw Derby County go level on
points with leaders Nottingham Forest with a 2-0 victory. Forest do remain top on goal
difference but it was the Ewes' day with both goals from Iesha Rollins. Wolverhampton
Wanderers caught up ground as they scored seven times without reply past Doncaster
Rovers Belles, Darcy Cartwright and Millie Webb each bagging doubles along with Grace
Gregory, Beth Grady and an own goal. Seanna McCann-Lloyd, Imogen Fahy and Lily
Jackson were all on the scoresheet as Stoke City beat Stourbridge 3-2 and Sporting
Khalsa also won 3-2 against Lincoln City thanks to Jessica Beddall, Alice Raby and
Morgan Reeves.
