Consett Ladies are the last remaining County League side left in the
competition after they defeated Warrington Wolves Foundation
2-1 on Sunday. Emma Hewett and Nicole McEvoy scored the goals
which take the Durham County Women's League side into the Second
       Round.
Consett will be at home against National League opposition after they were paired with
Stockport County, who staged a second half goal blitz as they came from behind to beat
Penrith AFC Ladies 7-3. Trailing 3-2 at the break, County went on to find the net a further five
times as Maria Figueiredo bagged a hat-trick and Hanifa Douglas a brace, with Levi Rathburn
and Harriet Houghton also on target.
Cheadle Town Stingers meanwhile were one of only two Regional League teams to
claim a FAWNL scalp on the day when they defeated York City on penalties following a 2-2
draw, to reach the Second Round for the first time. Rachael Dunlop twice scored equalisers for
Cheadle after York had gone ahead through Felicity Jones and Alice Hughes and goalkeeper Fran
Singleton was Cheadle's heroine in the resulting shootout. Cheadle have been handed a plum
home draw against Burnley FC Women, the Clarets having scored nine times without reply
away to Tranmere Rovers. Sarah Greenhalgh netted a hat-trick and Millie Ravening struck a
brace with Courtney Willis, Ellie May, Aimee Kelly and Leah Embley adding the others.
Sutton Coldfield Town also eliminated National League opponents and that was on
penalties as well, after they had shared a 1-1 draw with Leafield Athletic. Ruth Graham gave
Sutton a first half lead which was cancelled out after the break by Talitta Chase and as the game
went into the shootout, it was the Royals who triumphed 6-5 from the spot after Lottie McElroy's
save. Sutton Coldfield must now make the trip to Norwich City who defeated Enfield Town
2-0, courtesy of goals from Ellie Smith and Megan Todd.
Sporting Khalsa were beaten by Boldmere St Michaels when the teams met in the
League Cup two weeks earlier but on this occasion, they gained revenge with a 2-1 victory over
their higher division opponents. The Mikes had led at the break througha Chloe Bickley goal but
Isabelle Austin-Short levelled for Khalsa during the second half and Becky Hall netted an injury
time winner from the penalty spot.
Khalsa will be at home to Peterborough Utd who had a very good win themselves,
beating Stourbridge 2-1 after extra time. The Posh Women had led through a first half goal from
Niamh Connor, before Hannah Fishwick grabbed an equaliser for the Glassgirls to take the game
into the extra period, where Kier Perkins netted what proved to be the winner for Peterborough.
A trip to Cardiff City Ladies was never going to be an easy one for Bridgwater Utd and
so it proved as the Division One South West leaders ran out 4-0 winners. Laura Williams gave
Cardiff a first half lead and they went on to add further goals after the break through Kerry
Bartlett, Ingrid Aadland and Ellie Sargent. Cardiff will be at home again in the next round to
Keynsham Town, who scored five times without reply away to Weymouth. Gemma
McGuinness marked her debut for Keynsham by scoring twice, with the others coming from
Justine Lorton, Lily Withers and Naomi Clipston.
Jess Round scored both goals for Redcar Town as they came from behind to win 2-1
away to Wallsend Boys Club. Redcar have landed a home draw against Leeds Utd who edged
past Brighouse Town on a dramatic penalty shootout after the teams had finished level at 1-1.
Brighouse had taken the lead eleven minutes from time through Ella Harris but Rick Passmoor's
side hit back to equalise when Abbie Brown scored from the spot. Leeds goalkeeper Carrie
Simpson emerged as her team's heroine from the resulting shootout as she saved three kicks
against her former side and Rebekah Bass was the only player to find the net, taking her side
       though with a 1-0 win.
Fylde Women travelled to Alnwick Town and returned with a 4-1 victory under their
belts. All of the Coasters' goals came in the opening half hour with Isobel Binks, Hannah Forster,
Katie Smith and Emily Hollinshead each getting on the scoresheet. Fylde must now take on
Middlesbrough who were 2-1 winners over Bradford City, Jessica Dawson and Simone
Laverick were the markswomen for 'Boro with Jessica Watkins replying.
