Huddersfield Town ended the Cup hopes of former winners Doncaster Rovers
Belles by beating them 3-0 thanks to Laura Elford, Autumn Housley and Kiera Heslam. Town
will be up against Durham Cestria who ran out 4-1 winners away to Norton & Stockton
Ancients with goals from Ellen Turnbull (2), Sarah Burn and Erin Nicholson.
Rebecca Ferguson scored an extra time winner, to add to Georgia Gibson's earlier strike,
as Newcastle Utd won 2-1 away to Hull City. The Magpies will be at home to Barnsley who
were 5-1 victors at Darwen FC Women, courtesy of a goal apiece from Madison Foye, Rebecca
Gompertz, Brooke Marsden, Alayna Millard and Courteney Csomor.
Katie Thomas, Emily Douglas, Ellie Stewart, Megan Dykes and Nicola James were all on
target as Liverpool Feds ran out 5-1 winners at Fleetwood Town Wrens. The Feds will now
encounter Merseyrail Ladies in a derby tie, after they defeated FC United of Manchester
4-1 thanks to Charlotte Cloy (2), Leah Carlin and Chelcee Grimes.
Wem Town booked their place in the Second Round with a 4-1 victory away to Lye
Town. Kim Bebbington, Katie Doster, Kirstie Hunt and Michelle Pasco netted Wem's goals and
they now have the chance to take on Nottingham Forest who also safely negotiated an
awkward tie away to Oughtibridge WM with a 6-0 victory. Arryana Daniels and Yasmin Mosby
each scored twice for Forest along with Georgia Hewitt and Rosetta Taylor.
Loughborough Lightning defeated Sheffield FC 3-0 with goals from Monique
Robinson, Georgia Stevens and Nicola Russell. They will now play host to Stoke City whose tie
with Derby County turned out to be as close as anticipated, going all the way to penalties. Alison
Hall gave Stoke a first half lead with Derby equalising late on through Anita Gaspar and it was
Stoke who were 3-2 winners in the resulting shootout.
There was late drama at Asfordby Amateurs where visitors Lichfield City looked to
be on their way to defeat but an injury goal took the game into extra time, where Lichfield went
on to win 5-3. Katie Thornhill bagged a brace for Lichfield, whose other scorers were Saddi Shan,
Shelbie Cartwright and Courtney Dilger. Lichfield will now be up against West Bromwich
Albion after they eased past Crewe Alexandra with a 4-0 victory, Mariam Mahmood netting
twice along with Maria Timms and an own goal.
Northampton Town were reinstated into the competition following a defeat in the
previous round and they made no mistake this time with a 6-2 victory over Dronfield Town.
Abbie Reboul and Kim Farrow each netted twice for Northampton whose other goals came from
Alex Dicks and Gracie Williams and their reward is a tough one, drawn away to
Wolverhampton Wanderers who were another team to get past a potential banana skin away
to Shrewsbury Town, running out 8-2 winners. Amber Hughes led the scoring for Wolves with
a hat-trick and Anna Morphet weighed in with a double, whilst Maz Gauntlett, Beth Merrick and
Helen Dermody also got on the scoresheet.
Coventry Sphinx won a thrilling tie 4-3 after extra time away to Worcester City, to
keep up their excellent start to the season. Kirsty Farnsworth and Amanda Whalley each bagged
braces for Sphinx who will take on Solihull Moors in the Second Round. Moors were 5-0
winners at Sedgley & Gornal Utd, Cheryl Edwards netting twice along with Annie Highway,
Eva Rogers and Lyndsey Ross-Baker.
Ashford Utd will be at home to Actonians Ladies after their 2-1 victory away to
Clapton Community. Yasmin Howard and Jodie Cain scored the goals for Ashford to give
them the edge whilst Chihiro Ebine bagged a brace and Dominika Netschova added the other as
Actonians won 3-0 at AFC Stoneham.
Maddie Biggs and Natasha Thomas each scored twice for Ipswich Town in their 7-0
victory over Eastern Region League leaders Luton Town. Maria Boswell, Anna Grey and Abigail
Lafayette added the other goals. Ipswich now host London Seaward who were pushed all the
way by Royston Town before progressing as 3-2 extra time winners, thanks to a Katherine Long
double and Samantha Lanza.
Southampton Women survived a scare as they came from behind win 2-1 at Ebbsfleet
Utd. Amy Russ had given Fleet a first half lead but after the break, Rachel Okoro levelled the
scores midway through the second half and Summer Kilby netted an extra time winner to take
Southampton through to a home tie with London Bees, who were 4-0 victors away to Hackney
courtesy of goals from Juliet Adebowale, Janaye Beaufort, Danielle Puddefoot and Nikita
Whinnett.
