The top of the table clash in SWPL 1 went the way of Glasgow City whose 1-0 win away to
Celtic has seen them take a lead of six points at the top. Priscilla Chinchilla’s goal midway
through the second half has given City an advantage which may turn out to be decisive.
Rangers have moved to within a single point of second placed Celtic as they also won 1-0
against Spartans. Brogan Hay settled matters with the only goal of the game just after the
hour.
Hearts consolidated themselves in fourth place, thanks to a 3-0 victory at Glasgow
Women. Emma Brownlie gave them the lead after five minutes but they weren’t able to to
make the points safe until late on, when Ciara Grant and Gwennan Davies added further goals.
Hibernian were the other visiting team to win on the day, 4-0 against Hamilton
Academical who stay in the bottom two. Eilidh Adams gave Hibs an early lead which was
doubled before half time by Shannon Leishman, with Lia Tweedie putting the seal on the win
with a second half brace.
Defeat for Spartans means that Partick Thistle have reclaimed their place in the top six,
albeit after staging a second half recovery to beat Aberdeen 4-3. Amy Bulloch gave Thistle the
lead early on, with the Dons hitting back with goals from Bayley Hutchison and Mya Christie.
Linzi Taylor levelled the scores again before Claire Adams and Imogen Longcake struck to give
Partick a valuable win, despite Francesca Ogilvie grabbing a consolation for Aberdeen in injury
time.
Motherwell kept their top half hopes alive by winning 2-1 against Dundee Utd. Katie
Rice and Louisa Boyes put ‘Well two goals ahead in the opening 24 minutes, before a second
half Emma Lawton own goal gave United a consolation.
It turned out to be a good day for SWPL 2 leaders Montrose despite them sharing a
goalless draw with St Johnstone. The point keeps them on course for the title as second
placed Gartcairn Women crashed to a
