Juniors Ladies got back to winning ways with a 3-1 success away to York RI, courtesy of an
Abby Watkinson brace and Martha Roper, whilst Emily Burgin and Debbie Hastings - for the
second week running - each scored five times for Ossett Utd in their crushing victory over
Sheffield Wednesday. Danielle Sidebottom (2), Charlotte Adams, Rowan Treagus and
Anais Wilby weighed in with the other goals for Ossett.
North West League
Curzon Ashton remain on top of the Premier Division despite going down to a 2-1 defeat at
the hands of Fleetwood Town Wrens, Sophie Slater scoring both goals. FC United of
Manchester would have gone top with a victory against Cheadle Town Stingers but the
sides battled out a 2-2 draw, Avilla Bergin and Rachael Dunlop were on target for Cheadle.
Tranmere Rovers moved above Crewe Alexandra in the table after beating them 3-2
whilst West Didsbury & Chorlton were 3-1 winners over Darwen FC Women thanks to
Shauna Edmondson, Taylor Gunn and Sophie Bracegirdle and Blackburn Community SC
were 4-2 victors away to Mossley Hill, whose replies came from Millie Critchley and Niamh
Ritchie.
Haslingden stay seven points clear in Division One North following their 3-1 victory
away to Bolton Wanderers but they are starting to run out of games and second placed
Blackpool, who have four games in hand, won 1-0 against Morecambe with a late goal from
Emily Salthouse. Accrington Stanley remain in the running for a top three place but needed
a second half equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Carlisle Utd whilst Penrith AFC lost ground
when they were beaten 4-3 by Preston North End, despite goals from Abbie Forster (2) and
Sarah Smith. Olivia Holling (2) and Kayleigh Higgins were on target for Chorley Women
Development as they shared a 3-3 draw with Penwortham Town and goals from Alex
Porter and Eve Walker earned Sir Tom Finney a crucial 2-0 win away to Workington
Reds.
It was a good day for Bury AFC Women in Division One South as they beat
Warrington Wolves Foundation 4-1 thanks to Sophie Charlton (2), Chloe Greenall and an
own goal, whilst Runcorn Linnets went down 2-0 to Chester FC Women whose scorers
were Imogen Paul and Molly Wood. Bury therefore take over as leaders on goal difference, and
with a game in hand. Poulton Vics are two points off the pace in third, they were 3-0 winners
away to Northwich Vixens. In the other games, Isobel Worswick was on target for Hindley
Juniors Women in their 1-1 draw with Altrincham, whilst Wythenshawe Amateurs
and Alder FC Women also finished level at 1-1.
South West League
Bristol Rovers held on to the leadership on goal difference following a second successive 6-1
victory, this time at Ilminster Town courtesy of hat-tricks from Zoe Fielden-Stewart and Abi
Todd, Jodi Cornwall replying. Second placed Torquay Utd meanwhile also won, 2-0 against
Warminster Town thanks to Tracey Cross and Esme Kilburn-Thompson. Forest Green
Rovers are looking likely to finish in third, Estelle Randall and Rhian Robbins each netting
twice as they defeated Wootton Bassett Town 9-0. Ellie Briscoe, Holly Hughes, Nynka
Rucker, Zoe Boyd and Poppy Mortimer also got on the scoresheet. Sherborne Town were 1-0
winners over Poole Town with a strike from Becky Narramore whilst Keri-Ann Moxom (2),
Gabi Alphous and Grace O'Leary accounted for the goals as Liskeard Athletic won 4-2
against Bishop's Lydeard, Emily Crook and Hannah Delbridge replying.
Northern Division leaders Oldland Abbotonians did not play on Sunday but results
mean they stay on top, with two points covering the top four teams. St Vallier stay second and
still have matters in their hands, despite going down 1-0 to SGS Olveston Utd who scored
through a second half penalty from Isabelle Amphlett. Ruby Michael scored for Frampton
Rangers as they shared a 1-1 draw with Downend Flyers, who also replied with a penalty
scored by Mollie Bourne.
Pucklechurch Sports are confirmed as Eastern Division Champions after recording
their eleventh straight victory, 3-1 away to second placed Frome Town. Lilly Farr, Zoe Gunter
and Sophie Sweet scored the all-important goals for Pucklechurch, with Koren Thorner-
news@womenssoccerscene.co.uk
