North West League
Tranmere Rovers won 2-1 away to Crewe Alexandra to stay one point ahead at the top of
the Premier Division, with FC United of Manchester in second place after they defeated
West Didsbury & Chorlton 5-0. Curzon Ashton are also one point off the pace following
their 5-2 success at Darwen FC Women. Salford City Lionesses are the division's other
unbeaten team, they battled out a 2-2 draw with Cheadle Town Stingers. Blackburn
Community SC and Mossley Hill also shared four goals and Fleetwood Town Wrens
were 3-2 winners at Wigan Athletic.
Penwortham Town are the early pacesetters in Division One North, they edged out
Morecambe by the odd goal in seven to lead by one point from Haslingden, 3-2 winners away
to previously unbeaten Preston North End, with Accrington Stanley a further point adrift
after they shared a 1-1 draw with Workington Reds. Molly Kelly (2), Keisha Masterson (2) and
Emily Salthouse accounted for the goals as Blackpool beat Bolton Wanderers 5-4 to move
into the top half. After drawing each of their opening three games, Carlisle Utd ended that
record with a victory, 3-1 against Sir Tom Finney and Penrith AFC scored eight times
without reply past Chorley Women Development.
Bury AFC Women have taken the step up to Division One South in their stride so far,
a 5-0 win against Alder FC Women taking them two points clear at the top from Warrington
Wolves Foundation, who drew 2-2 with Northwich Vixens. BRNESC Ladies were 2-1
winners over Hindley Juniors Women and complete the top four. Poulton Vics raced to a
7-2 success away to Altrincham and this lifts them up to mid-table, just ahead of Runcorn
Linnets who beat Wythenshawe Amateurs 3-1.
South West League
Ilminster Town were amongst the main title challengers in the Premier Division last season
and have made a good start this time around, scoring six without reply against Warminster
Town. Jodi Cornwall netted a brace and she was joined on the scoresheet by Abigail Carslake,
Anthea Kaptein, Charlotte Pettinger and Dana Andrews. Imogen Miller scored a hat-trick as
Bishop's Lydeard defeated Poole Town 7-2, Caitlin Berry added a brace and there was one
apiece from Holly Miller and Anusia Rourke. The five matches in the top division produced a
total of 36 goals, the lowest scoring being at Sherborne Town where the home side beat
Torquay Utd 3-0 with goals from Kelly Snook, Olivia Watts and Sophie Garcia. Bristol
Rovers' first match in the division ended in a thrilling 6-4 win over Wootton Bassett Town,
nine of the goals coming in the first half. Georgia Vandries secured the points for Rovers with her
hat-trick goal after the break, with Zoe Fielden Stewart (2) and Laura Curnock adding the others.
Libby Davies scored a hat-trick for Bassett but ended up on the losing side, Hannah Gulliver was
also on target. The only drawn game was also a high scoring affair, Liskeard Athletic and
Forest Green Rovers finishing level at 4-4. Eve-Charlotte Moore scored a hat-trick and Alex
Hugh the other for the Cornish side, whilst Forest Green netted through Charlie Rowlands (2),
Zoe Boyd and Nynka Rucker.
SGS Olveston Utd hosted Downend Flyers in their first match in the league on
Sunday, and marked the occasion with a narrow 2-1 victory. Ellie Brockton gave Downend a first
half lead but after the break, Olveston bounced back to take the points with goals from Jes
Fleming and Weronika Jozefowska. The other match in the Northern Division finished with
honours even, Frampton Rangers and St Vallier battling out a 1-1 draw. Amie Norris was on
target for Frampton, with St Vallier scoring through Sarah Doidge.
Two of the newly promoted teams in the Eastern Division met each other and it was
Pucklechurch Sports who ran out 3-0 winners over Stockwood Wanderers. Adele Hooper
scored two of the goals and Tammi Haynes was also on target. AEK Boco have got off to a good
start, Lucy Atkinson hitting a hat-trick as they defeated Middlezoy Rovers 5-3, Charlotte Daly
and Sasha Ferris adding the other goals. Alex Gwyther (2) and Beth Knight were the
markswomen for Paulton Rovers in their 3-2 win away to Weston-super-Mare, who replied
