Head Coach Gareth Taylor added: “We’re really pleased to have been able to bring Yui on
board – she’s a very gifted player and one we have admired for a while now.
“She has a lot of experience under her belt including a year already in the Barclays WSL,
and we believe she will fit very nicely in with our style of play and the talented squad we already
have here at City.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with Yui over the coming seasons and seeing
her make her mark in a Manchester City shirt.”
Meanwhile, England international midfielder Keira Walsh has left Manchester City to join
Barcelona for an undisclosed fee, which has been reported as a world record for a female player.
The midfielder arrived at City in 2014 as a teenager from Blackburn Rovers and went on to
play 211 games in all competitions, making her the Club’s joint all-time appearance holder with
Steph Houghton at the time of her departure.
She lifted eight trophies in as many years at the Academy Stadium, whilst she also found
the back of the net eight times.
The England international will move onto pastures new ahead of the start of the 2022-23
campaign however, with the 25-year-old making the switch to Primera Division outfit Barcelona.
Arsenal are delighted to confirm the signing of Gio Queiroz from Barcelona on a permanent deal.
In turn, Queiroz will spend the 2022-23 season on loan at Everton.
The 19-year-old Brazil international joins following a loan spell at Levante last season, with
the winger scoring 11 goals in 31 appearances during her time on loan.
Gio made her senior debut for Madrid CFF at the age of just 15 in 2018, amassing 14
appearances with the side from the Spanish capital before sealing a switch to Barcelona in 2020.
The winger spent the 2020-21 season with the Catalan side and was part of the squad that
won the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Spanish league title and Spanish Cup before
departing for Levante ahead of the 2021-22 campaign.
“I’m very excited. I know Arsenal is a great club – it’s one of the best clubs in Europe," Gio
told www.arsenal.com. “All of the players here are very competitive and have a lot of experience,
so I’m excited to learn from them and develop. Arsenal is a club that belongs at the top and with
hard work we can make sure we are there.”
Head Coach Jonas Eidevall added: “We’re delighted to have completed this transfer. Gio is
an exciting prospect and we believe she has great potential. We will closely monitor her
development this season and look forward to watching her progress.”
“We have been monitoring Gio for some time and are delighted to have brought her to
Arsenal,” said Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley. “She will now spend time on loan in
order to continue her progression and adapt to English football. We are confident that her time
on loan will provide her with valuable experience at this stage in her development."
