SKC: For sure, the more success we have, the more interest we are getting and is then attracting
better quality players to the club as they want to be involved which is only a positive thing. We
have already made some really good additions to the squad as we build for the 2021-22 season
and have already shown their quality in training, which makes players around them want to
better themselves, so it’s only going to be great for team morale and competition for places, and
we just hope we will have an uninterrupted season!
WSS: How frustrating has it been that you were not able to complete a full league
       season?
SKC: It was incredibly frustrating, but understandable in the circumstances. For me personally
at 35, two null and voided seasons are not ideal! The Southern Region Women's Football
League then put forward the Subsidiary Cup to get teams playing which was great, however
we did think along the way, we could have just played some more league games and perhaps
they could have decided who should go up/go down but worked out some silverware! We are
anxiously waiting for the decision of our application for promotion into the FA Women’s
National League (South West) so we should hear by the end of this month.
WSS: We shall never know now, but the Premier Division looked to be a strong
one this time around, do you think it would have been a close title race?
SKC: Yes it would have been, without a doubt. There are four really strong sides including us,
Abingdon, Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Bournemouth, with respect to the other teams in the
league too, but we have remained unbeaten against them, more so last season, as we only
played two league games before this season was curtailed, but they always give us a good
battle. It would have been interesting, but I am certain we would have been there at the top!
WSS: As of yet, we don't know how the leagues will look at the start of next season,
but do you feel that you can do well, whichever teams you will be up against?
SKC: Yes absolutely, we are preparing already for whichever league we are in, but we certainly
want to be in a league with competitive games week in, week out as that is what every player
wants to strive for, to be the best they can be as an individual and as a team and test ourselves
against better players, so it will be a very interesting waiting game to find out where
Moneyfields FC Women will playing their football next season!
