The Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League title race will go down
to the last day of the season after the two contenders both recorded
convincing victories on Sunday.
Cardiff Met Women still sit on top of the table, by virtue of
goals scored, but they can do no more as they completed their fixtures
with a 4-0 win away to Aberystwyth Town.
Chloe O’Connor put the Archers two ahead by scoring twice
inside the opening 25 minutes and striker went on to
complete a great personal day as she added two more
after the break, to complete a four-goal haul in total.
Swansea City meanwhile took on third
placed Cardiff City Women in a dress rehearsal
for the League Cup Final and produced one of their
best results of the season, running out 6-0 winners.
Laura Davies gave the Swans an eighth minute lead
and Tija Richardson quickly added a second, before
Katy Hosford made it three ahead of half time.
Hosford netted her second, early in the second half,
and after Stacey John-Davis increased their lead on
the hour mark, Hosford completed her hat-trick with Amy Thrupp on the attack for Abergavenny Women
the final goal, four minutes from the end. against Port Talbot Town (Will Cheshire)
Swansea therefore need to avoid defeat in
their final league match of the season this Sunday against Abergavenny Women in order
to retain the title.
Fourth place was on offer as Abergavenny played host to Port Talbot Town and it’s
as you were after their meeting finished in a 2-2 draw. Lyndsey Davies gave Abergavenny a
