New radio partner for SWPL
Scottish Women's Football (SWF) have announced Go Radio as their first-ever Radio
Partner.
The partnership will also see Go Radio become the official Radio Partner for the
Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL) in 2021-22.
Go Radio listeners will be able to get half time and full time SWPL scores live
on-air every Sunday this season, as well as hearing more about the SWPL and SWF's Club
Finder feature.
SWF CEO, Aileen Campbell, told www.scotwomensfootball.com: "This is another
hugely positive development for the girl's and women's game. Two of our key aims are to
increase the number of people playing and watching. This partnership achieves both by
providing a new audience with up to date information around the girls and women's game.
"Since day one of our discussions, Go Radio have been extremely positive about
promoting girls and women's football. We're excited about working with them and for
the 2021-22 season ahead.
Go Radio CEO, Tracey McNellan, said: "Go Radio are delighted to partner with
SWF and the SWPL. We are looking forward to working with the SWF team to support
the consistent growth in girls and women's football - both in terms of participation and
supporter numbers."
Scottish Women's Football has also confirmed that BBC ALBA will broadcast a
record 20 matches across the SWPL 1 season.
BBC ALBA will open their coverage with newly promoted Aberdeen hosting
Celtic on the first day of the new season. Celtic will back on the following Sunday as they
welcome Glasgow City to the Penny Cars Stadium. The next confirmed match on the
channel will be on 3rd October, when Hibernian will play host to Rangers.
The match this Sunday between Glasgow City and Motherwell will also be
televised live by BBC Sport Scotland. Also, BBC Scotland will resume showing their
excellent weekly highlights programme from the Scottish Women’s Premier League from
this Sunday, 5th September at 8.30pm.
Rangers-Partick match postponed
Scottish Women’s Football (SWF) has been advised by the Perform and Win Committee
that the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) 1 match between Rangers and
Partick Thistle has been postponed.
Partick Thistle informed the Perform and Win Committee that three members of
their first team squad have tested positive for COVID-19 while a further five members are
self-isolating.
The LMC noted that the impact leaves Partick Thistle without 13 fit and available
players for Sunday’s match and that it should be postponed. The match will now be
played on Wednesday 6th October.
