Two of the games in the Premier Division were called off due to conditions on Sunday morning
but the other two did go ahead and support for Shelter Cymru’s ‘No Home Kit’ campaign was well
supported.
Cardiff City Women travelled to Aberystwyth Town knowing that a win would secure
their place at the top of the table going into Phase 2. Initially it looked as though the Seasiders
could delay this landmark, after Gwenllian Jones’ corner sailed past everyone in the box and
nestled in the top corner. A red card however changed the flow of the game and the Bluebirds
emphatically took the second half; substitute Rhianne Oakley made an instant impact levelling
two minutes after the break, with Ffion Price putting them ahead with half an hour to play.
Aberystwyth held off further attacks, but a third from Phoebie Poole and a double from Siobhan
Walsh sealed a 5-1 victory and top spot.
Cardiff Met Women aimed to keep pressure on Swansea City in the race for second
place as they headed to Jenner Park to face Barry Town Utd. Emily Allen hit a hat-trick and
Tija Richardson a further two, swapping goals for the first 20 minutes, to put the Archers fiveup
at half time. Mackenzie Olden got one back for the hosts after the break, Met weren’t finished
however and Allen got her fourth on the hour, with Erin Preece and Kanesha Nanette also
bagging goals to finish the match as 8-1 winners.
On Wednesday night, Cardiff Met extended their lead over Swansea to four points when they
defeated Aberystwyth Town 4-0. Jessica Westhoff put the Archers in front on the half hour and
Erin Murray made it two from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time. Tija Richardson kept
up her good scoring form just after the hour and Ellie Preece added the final goal late on.
