twice and Natasha Crew added the other to earn Weston a third win in five matches.
Sticker Women held on to the leadership of the Western Division after beating
Bideford 2-1. Lauren Bennett and Annie Richards bagged the goals for Sticker, with
Hannah Edmondson replying. Marine Academy Plymouth also won 2-1 against Feniton
to stay one point off the pace, Megan Boulton and Sam Drewery were on target whilst the
visitors' consolation came from Megan Williams. Emilia Heyes and Dee Newman were the
markswomen for third placed Saltash Utd as they defeated Budleigh Salterton 2-0.
Southern Region League
Abingdon Utd strengthened their position at the top of the league with a 5-0 victory over
third placed Bournemouth Sports. Lindsay Pinker netted twice, with Molly Lygo-
Jackson, Sahara Osborne-Ricketts and Beth Chapman adding the others, to see United
restore their seven point advantage with a big result against one of their main title rivals. In
the other game, Abingdon Town edged out Wycombe Wanderers by the odd goal in
seven. Sally Grimm hit a hat-trick for Wycombe but ended up on the losing side as Town
found the net through Chloe Ball, Annie Northwood, Paige Ridley and Harriette Titchener.
West Midlands League
Burton Albion are up into fourth place in the Premier Division, their highest position of
the season to date, after they ran out 5-1 winners over Lichfield City. Millie Drinkhall led
the scoring for the Lady Brewers with a hat-trick and there was one apiece from Elisha
Gourlay and Alice Lilley, with Shelbie Cartwright replying.
In Division One North, despite a goal from Aaliyah Shearer, Walsall Ladies sustained
a blow to their title challenge when they were beaten 4-1 by Lichfield City Res.
Coventry Sphinx have moved to within three points of Division One South leaders
Knowle as they scored six times without reply away to Sedgley & Gornal Utd. Anaya
O'Brien scored twice and there was one apiece from Kirsty Farnsworth, Jodie McGuckin,
Milly Miller and Lauren Swift. Chloe Debaes hit a hat-trick and Caitlin Revan the other for
Rugby Town in their 4-1 victory over Bewdley Town, Lauren Thompson replying, and
Rugby Borough meanwhile won for the first time, 2-0 against Westfields Women
thanks to Emily Davies and Michelle Oldfield.
Shrewsbury Town scored six times without reply past Coundon Court to take them
into the semi finals of the Premier Cup. Madison Jones bagged a hat-trick for the Shrews,
whilst Zoe Child contributed a double and Vikki Owen added the other goal.
Holders Huddersfield Town remain firm on course to retain the trophy as they booked their
place in the semi-finals thanks to an 8-0 victory away to Handsworth. Laura Hulme bagged
a hat-trick, Brittany Sanderson netted a brace while both Serena Fletcher and Yasmin Mason
were also on target with an own completing the scoring.
Doncaster Rovers Belles advanced via a 4-0 win away to Kiveton Park, the County
League outfit doing themselves proud with a determined display. Belles enjoyed a 1-0
interval advantage thanks to Mollie Barlow and they added further goals through Shannon
Durkin (2) and Lily Wishart.
One Sheffield & Hallam County League team was guaranteed a place in the last four with
the quarter final draw producing an all Division One tie in Wakefield AFC Reserves vs
Rotherham United Whitehill.
The former duly progressed with Megan Brackenbury and Danielle Shepherd on the
mark in a 2-1 home win, Rotherham’s goal coming from an opponent. Wakefield will be the
rank outsiders in the semi-finals which features three FAWNL teams, Barnsley having
progressed by beating Sheffield FC 3-1 ahead of last weekend.
