Manchester City continued their defence of the trophy and swept
into the semi finals with a 6-0 victory over Bristol City.
In front of over 2,600 at Ashton Gate, the Cityzens made a
powerful start to the game and Hayley Raso netted twice inside the
opening twelve minutes, before Khadija Shaw got in on the act on the
half hour mark. Lauren Hemp made it four against her former club and
Mary Fowler further increased their lead on the stroke of half time.
Hemp completed her double on the hour but the home side kept going
and ensured they did not concede any further goals from that point.
Defeat for Bristol City means that Championship interest in the
competition is over for another year.
Chelsea are one stage away from yet another appearance in the Final, making the short trip
to Tottenham Hotspur and advancing with a 3-1 win. Sam Kerr gave them the lead shortly
before half time and Fran Kirby made it two, midway through the second half. Kerr put the seal
on the victory with her second goal four minutes from the end, before Drew Spence grabbed an
injury time consolation against her old club.
There was late drama at Liverpool, where visitors West Ham Utd progressed with a 1-0
victory. The Hammers have never reached the Final before but kept those hopes well and truly
alive after Dagny Brynjarsdottir scored the only goal of the game with three minutes left.
The last of the quarter final ties was played on Thursday night and it saw Arsenal complete
the semi final line up with a 3-0 win against Aston Villa. The Gunners led at half time through a
goal from Frida Maanum, who doubled her tally five minutes into the second half. Caitlin Foord
rounded off the scoring on the hour to take Arsenal through to the last four once again.
The draw for the semi finals of the 2022-23 FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup took

The two semi final ties are scheduled to be played on 8-9 February.
Leeds United midfielder Sarah Danby has given her thoughts, ahead of facing Arsenal this
weekend.
The Whites travel to face the Gunners away from home in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup
fourth round and will face a really tough test, against their WSL opponents.
Speaking to the Leeds United official website ahead of the match, Danby is proud of how well
her team have done to get this far in the competition having overcome high-league teams in
previous rounds.
She now wants her side to give it everything they have when they take on Arsenal on Sunday.
“We feel really good at the moment!” Danby told LUTV. “Obviously it has been cup, cup, cup,
and game after game for us at the moment.
“We’ve got a pretty big one coming up on Sunday. It’s excitement, nerves, everything!
“We have made it into the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Fourth Round and that’s an
achievement in itself, now we go to Arsenal and will give it our best shot.
“Of course it’s exciting to play Arsenal, they are one of the best teams in the country, if not
the world right now.
“I think people may look at us and feel we have overachieved, with how well we have done in
the competition so far.
“I disagree with that, though. I think we have gone out in our previous games and performed,
so we deserve to be where we are.
“We’ll be going there to enjoy it, but we know it will be tough. They are training every single
day so we know how fit, strong and fast they will be.
“But, we’re here, we know we’re a team that’s together and we’ll give it our best shot. We’ll
enjoy everything about the occasion for sure.”
