Division One South West
There was late drama at Selsey Women where leaders Exeter City recorded a 2-1 win
which keeps them a point ahead at the top of the table. Kate Dellilis gave Selsey a first half lead
and the Seals held on until the last few minutes when Exeter, who had been reduced to ten
players shortly before, turned the game around with goals from Mollie Taylor and Emily
Toogood which keep them in front.
Exeter therefore stay just in front of Cardiff City Ladies who had a more
straightforward victory, scoring ten without reply past AFC St Austell. Cori Williams led the
scoring with a five-goal haul, Grace Horrell weighed in with a brace and they were joined on
the scoresheet by Ruby Scahill, Laura Williams and Ingrid Aadland.
AFC Bournemouth continue to head the Hampshire trio of clubs which occupy the
next three positions after they defeated Portishead Town 7-2. Molly Clark hit a hat-trick for
the Cherries and there were doubles from Lucy Cooper and Pearl Mortimer, whilst Ellie
Strippel was on target for Portishead.
Moneyfields made it four victories on the trot when they won 4-2 against Swindon
Town. Gemma Simmonds led the scoring for the Moneys with a hat-trick and Jane Yeates
was also on target, whilst Kathryn Bach and Annabelle Colston netted in reply for Swindon.
A goal in each half earned Southampton Women a 2-0 victory away to Keynsham
Town. Britt Jeal opened the scoring for the Sirens just before the half hour and Shannon
Albuery curled home a delightful second after the break, however the win for Southampton
was marred as captain Lauren Cheshire sustained a fractured wrist which caused a long delay.
Maidenhead Utd's charge towards safety gathered further momentum as they picked
up a third win on the trot, 2-0 away to Larkhall Athletic who remain in the bottom two.
Natalie Cowell kept up her own good form for Maidenhead by scoring both goals.
