Bristol City preserved their lead of three points at the top with an impressive
3-0 victory over Crystal Palace. Shania Hayles opened the scoring four
minutes before half time and two goals in quick succession from Emily Syme
and Abi Harrison wrapped up a fifth win in six matches for Lauren Smith’s side.
London City Lionesses keep up the chase in second place, thanks to a
2-0 win away to Sunderland. Amy Rodgers gave the
Lionesses the lead just after the half hour and in-form
striker Sarah Ewens sealed a third straight win for her
team when she scored the second goal, sixteen minutes
from time.
Southampton have moved into the top three for
the first time after they 1-0 at Sheffield Utd. Ella Pusey
scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game
with nine minutes on the clock, as the Saints extended
their unbeaten run to five matches.
Charlton Athletic meanwhile lost ground on the
teams above them when they went down to a 2-1 defeat to
Lewes. Ellie Hack gave Lewes the lead in the fifth
minute, with Kiera Skeels striking shortly afterwards to
ensure the scoreline was level at half time. Paula Howells
then scored eight minutes after the restart to condemn Sheffield Utd striker Mia Enderby jumps with
the Addicks to a second defeat and secured a first league Megan Collett of Southampton (Julian Barker).
