Glasgow City have had a good week with results going their way and they kept up their own title
challenge with an 8-1 victory at Dundee Utd. Erin Greening and Hayley Lauder both scored inside
the opening five minutes and after Danni McGinley pulled a goal back, Emily Whelan restored the
two-goal advantage. After the break, Lauren Davidson increased City’s lead before Greening netted
twice more to complete her hat-trick and Lisa Forrest rounded off the scoring with a late double.
Hearts continue their improvement and on Sunday they achieved their most significant result
so far, holding title chasing Rangers to a goalless draw. This allowed Celtic to move back into
second place with an eight-goal blast against Glasgow Women. Natalie Ross opened the scoring
for the Hoops, before Amy Gallacher hit a hat-trick ahead of the half time whistle. Gallacher then
netted a fourth from the penalty spot and Caitlin Hayes joined her on the scoresheet, before Celtic
added further late goals from Jacynta Galabadaarachchi and Maria McAneny.
However on Wednesday night, it was Celtic’s turn to suffer frustration as they were held to a
goalless draw by Motherwell. Glasgow City therefore lead the table by five points from Celtic, with
Rangers a further two points adrift.
Hibernian kept up their own improving form as they won 2-0 away to Motherwell on Sunday.
The game was goalless at half time but Shannon McGregor opened the scoring midway through the
second half and Katie Lockwood wrapped up the win with the second goal, nine minutes from time.
Partick Thistle continue to have a good season and they boosted their chances of a top half
place by beating Spartans 3-0. The three goals came in the final fifteen minutes, Cara Henderson
giving Thistle the lead before they went on to add further goals through Rachel Donaldson and Abbie
Ferguson.
Aberdeen lifted themselves out of the bottom two, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Hamilton
Academical. Hannah Stewart put the Dons in front on the stroke of half time and Bayley Hutchison
secured the points with the second.
That result dropped the Accies into the bottom two but on Wednesday night, they averted that
as goals from Kirstie McIntosh, Josephine Giard, Morgan Hay and Lauren Evans gave them a 4-0
win against Glasgow Women.
