KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 3
Manager’s Notes
Today’s opponents, Chichester and Selsey have had a
reasonable start to the season and will prove a stern test for
our injury hit side. We trust that they will have had a safe
journey from West Sussex to Somerset.
Our squad today is as strong as we can field at a time when
our 15-player squad is being severely reduced by player
moves due to work and similar reasons. Our first team
numbers are reduced to eleven players of which three have
bad injuries.
Fortunately, we have a number of players helping out from
our Academicals and Reserve sides.
Emma Norris is making her First Team debut at left back
today, a position which she excels at and Emma is one of our
bright young prospects who has been knocking on the First team door this season.
Libby Sims and Lucy Bidgood from our Reserve squad will also have a part to play in
today’s fixture. Management is very grateful for their support as both normally work
night shifts.
We also have a high profile player, Ylenia Carabott, who joined us this week, Ylenia
is a Maltese international who has played eighty one European games for her country
and scored twenty one times, mainly from a right wing position.
Ylenia is recovering from an ACL injury and so will only be involved for part of the
match, coming off the bench. We will not see the best of her for a little while, but she
will be a valuable addition to the squad over the next few months.
Today we have had to field three teams as the new fixture list dictates. The
Academicals side which play in the HA Women’s National League Reserve division
have a trip to Bridgwater and our Reserve ream in the South West Regional League
have their second league fixture away to Warminster Town.
The alterations to fixtures have produced more
clashes for our home pitch as a result of the South
West League recasting their match list to great
confusion from what was a perfectly good set of
fixtures. The new fixture list is shown in that section
of today’s programme.
