Chichester & Selsey L.F.C.
Chichester & Selsey Ladies and Youth Football Club are
based in Selsey, West Sussex, and were founded in
2020 as a breakaway club from Chichester City F.C.
Historically, the club were Chichester City LFC, which
had been founded in 2012 and affiliated to the men’s
club. They moved smartly up the women’s football
pyramid and were winners of the South West
Combination in 2014, taking themselves into the
Southern Division of the then FA Women’s Premier
League. They finished as Champions in 2017, winning promotion to the Southern
Premier Division where they have remained ever since.
In 2019, they moved their home matches from Chichester City’s Oaklands Park to
Selsey FC’s High Street Ground and in May 2020, the women’s team formally
broke away from Chichester City FC.
To avoid confusion between the similar names of two clubs, the club renamed
themselves Chichester & Selsey Ladies. They would retain the former affiliation’s
club colours of green and white, as well as their position in the FA Women’s
National League Southern Premier Division.
An end of an era at the club came at the end
of last season when long serving secretary
Caroline Evans stepped down from the role,
having been a major driving force since its
formation. Emma Alexandre has stepped
into that role from the start of this season.
Sadie Blakely is the club’s manager, assisted
by Laura Galway, with Hannah Humphries
as Coach and Abi Wheatley is
Physiotherapist. The club also runs a
Development team which plays in the South
West Division of the FA Women’s National
League (Reserve Section).
