Genero Adran League
The top of the table clash in Genero Adran Premier went the way of Swansea City, who have
put themselves in a very strong position with a 1-0 victory over Cardiff City Women.
Rhianne Oakley scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on the stroke of
half time to hand the Swans a ninth straight win which leaves them three points clear at the top,
and also with a game in hand on their two main rivals.
Defeat for City means that they slip back into third place on goal difference behind
Cardiff Met Women, who ran out 6-2 winners away to The New Saints. An own goal by Jen
Jarvie gave Met an early lead but TNS reacted strongly, Faye Marshall and Helen Evans scoring
in quick succession to put them in front after 26 minutes, a lead which they took into half time.
Midway through the second half, Lauren Hutton-Townsend scored from the penalty spot to
bring the scores level again and the Archers went on to find the net four times in the last twenty
minutes. Ellie Preece restored their lead and then Laura May Walkley netted twice in a three
minute spell, with Preece also completing her double late on.
The two teams currently occupied in the battle for fourth place, Aberystwyth Town
and Pontypridd Town battling out a goalless draw which means that Pontypridd stay one
point ahead of their rivals, although Aberystwyth still possess a game in hand.
Port Talbot Town still have an outside chance of a top four place, which they kept alive
on Sunday by winning 3-1 away to Barry Town Utd. After Manon Pearce had given Barry the
perfect start by giving them a first minute lead, Courteney Thomas brought Port Talbot level ten
minutes later and Caitlin Owen then put them in front for
the first time. Jess Denscombe completed a PREMIER DIVISION P W D L F A Pts GD
