The Vitality Women’s FA Cup
Clapton Community continued their brilliant run in the Vitality
Women's FA Cup and they have reached the Third Round with a
penalty shootout victory over Hounslow Women.
The match ended goalless and it was Greater
London League side Clapton who progressed with a
3-1 win from the spot against their FAWNL Southern
Premier Division opponents. Next up for Clapton will
be a long trip to Devon where they will face
Plymouth Argyle, who won 4-2 against AFC St
Austell thanks to a Beth Ireland double, Gabi
Alphous and Jemma Rose.
Stourbridge followed up their win against
Derby County in the last round by claiming another
FAWNL scalp, this time winning 2-1 away to
Cambridge City. Esme Moran headed the
Glassgirls in front and an own goal made it two before
half time. Grace Stanley pulled one back for City
midway through the second half and although they
missed a penalty shortly afterwards, Stourbridge held

themselves against a Championship side in the next
round, as they have been paired with Sheffield Utd.
Ashford Town (Middlesex) caused a huge surprise as they knocked out Oxford
Utd, beating them 3-0. Ashley Cheatley gave them a tenth minute lead and they went on to add
second half goals from Lavana Neufville and Alissa Down. Ashford will also be up against
Championship opponents, they will play host to high fliers London City Lionesses.
Burnley FC Women advanced with a fine 3-2 victory away to Fylde Women in a
game which lived up to its billing. Elizabeth Hamer, Millie Ravening and Katie Thomas scored the
goals to give Burnley the edge on the day and they have been rewarded with a home tie against
Liverpool.
Liverpool Feds continue to have an excellent season and the claimed the scalp of Hull
City with a 2-1 win. Chantelle Thompson and Jennifer Rogers were on target for the Feds as they
knocked out higher division opponents, and they will now face Championship opposition in the
shape of Blackburn Rovers.
Loughborough Lightning came through an awkward tie at Stevenage Women
with a 2-0 victory. Harriet Petley headed Loughborough in front just before half time and Emelia
Wilson made the game safe with the second goal during the second half. Loughborough must wait
to find out who their next opponents will be as the tie between Sheffield FC and Huddersfield
Town was postponed.
West Bromwich Albion ended the Cup run of Lincoln Utd by beating them 4-1.
Evie Gallop, Trina Greaves, Shannon Stamps and Kerry Walklett all scored a goal apiece to help
the Northern Premier Division side past their East Midlands League opponents. Albion will be at
home to Long Eaton Utd, whose tie with Netherton Utd was actually abandoned with ten
minutes remaining, with Long Eaton leading 6-0 at the time.
Bridgwater Utd came away from Chichester & Selsey with a 3-0 victory. The first
half was goalless but substitute Sydney Hinchcliffe scored twice after coming on and Amy
Goddard rounded off the win with the third goal in injury time. Bridgwater have landed a plum
home draw in the Third Round against Crystal Palace.
Southampton FC Women avoided a potential banana skin as they scored seven times
without reply at Ilminster Town. The home side went into the game with an unbeaten record
