The Genero Adran Trophy got into its full swing with the Premier league sides joining this season’s
competition. There was action across the length of Wales and 35 goals in the eight games, with three
lower division teams picking up surprise results.
Having made the longest trip in the competition, Llandudno were at Llandarcy to face
Swansea City but recorded a shock 2-1 victory over the Champions. After finishing the first half
goalless, it was the visitors who took the lead through India Hassall. The Swans replied straight
away through Nieve Jenkins but Llandudno wasted no time going back in front, Kelsey Davies
adding the last goal of the game four minutes later to put the Northerners name into the hat for the
next round draw.
Current Genero Adran North leaders Wrexham welcomed last season’s promoted side
Abergavenny Women and produced a dominate display, running out 7-1 winners. Rosie Hughes
got a double hat-trick with strike partner Amber Lightfoot assisting three of those and grabbing one
of her own, whilst youngster Mia Sherrard also put her name on the scoresheet with a consolation
for Abergavenny.
Another victorious travelling team were Connah’s Quay Nomads who were 3-2 victors at
Barry Town Utd. Tamara Hamer got the visitors’ first, but goals from Mackenzie Olden and
Manon Pearce saw the hosts in the lead at half time. Kylie Jones levelled just after the hour, before
Nomads captain Kirstie Kural put away a penalty after a handball to take the game for her side.
Last season’s winners Cardiff Met Womens eased past CPD Y Rhyl 1879 with a 5-0 win,
thanks to a hat-trick from Emily Allen, bookended by other goals from Ellie Preece and Steph Turner.
Fellow finalists Cardiff City Women had a short journey to Briton Ferry Llansawel,
who held the current Genero Adran Premier league leaders for nearly an hour before going down
3-1. Half time substitute and midweek hat-trick hero, Pheobie Poole broke the deadlock for City
with Megan Bowan adding a second four
minutes later. Zoe Atkins added a third with PREMIER DIVISION P W D L F A Pts GD
