Bowers & Pitsea will make club history on Sunday when they play in the Second Round of the
Vitality Women’s FA Cup for the first time, with a trip to Portsmouth.
“Everyone has worked extremely hard to get through to this stage of the competition for
the very first time and to be rewarded with an away fixture against a strong outfit in
Portsmouth, who are currently two leagues above us and 26 league places between us,”
chairman Daniel Foord told Women’s Soccer Scene.
“We know we are going to be in for a very tough afternoon on the South Coast but the
ladies feel they have nothing to lose and will be going out to put on a show and attempt to
cause a massive upset and reach the Third Round Proper.”
“I am extremely excited for the game on Sunday,” added vice captain Natalie Strange.
“We know we are in for a tough game against Portsmouth who are two leagues above us but,
I know that if we perform like I know we can, we are in for a chance.
“I am extremely proud to be a part of this team, we have put in a lot of hard work on and
off the pitch and I’m looking forward to see what we can achieve.
Manager Nikola Strizovic said: “ We are very much looking forward to playing in what
will be to date the biggest game of our team and club’s history.
“I know my players are ready for it. They have prepared well and their minds are very
much focused on going to the south coast to get the job done; to cause an upset for Pompey
with us taking the game; and then to be ready to face another new opponent in the third round
       draw.
“We have not come this far to only come this far. We have nothing to lose from the
experience here and I know they will fight for every ball, every movement and moment and
every opportunity to ensure they get the job done in taking the win.”
“I’m really excited about playing Portsmouth,” says striker Millie Isherwood. “It’s going
to be a test for us as they are a higher ranked team but that won’t stop us from putting up
challenge. As a team we definitely have the ability and skill to win.
“We’ve made history as a club and hopefully we will make more history on Sunday
       in the FA Cup.”
