After a slow start to the season, Billericay Town are
making an impact in their first season after promotion
in the Southern Premier Division and on Sunday, they
demonstrated their potential with a 3-2 win against
       high flying Watford.
Billericay striker Karissa Doo told us that the
Watford win was one of the club’s best achievements to
date, and that they will be looking to build on this in the
league as well as the cups:
WSS: Well done on a fantastic result against
Watford on Sunday, is that as good a result as
       the club has achieved?
KD: Yes, the scoreline says it all, we got the three
points and this will sit up there with some of the
achievements this club has made so far. Watford are a
good side so what a result for us.
WSS: Did it get nervy in the last twenty
minutes when Watford pulled two goals back?
KD: Nervy is an understatement, I mean every attack I was on edge! However, we all dug deep
and fought till the end. Did we believe we would take the three points? Hell yeah, but we had to
       work hard for it!
WSS: What was the feeling like when the final whistle blew?
KD: Everyone was buzzing and relieved there weren’t another five minutes added on. But what
       a feeling and well deserved.
WSS: That makes it four league wins in a row, and seven in all competitions.
Surely confidence amongst the players must be as high as it has ever been?
KD: Yes, credit goes to these group of girls and the management team who seem to back us in
any situation. Confidence is high in the camp and we are believing and trusting one another to
get the job done on the pitch. The group of players we have at the club are special and all bring
       different vibes.
WSS: This week it's back to the FA Cup and an away trip to AFC Wimbledon, who
you will know all about from last season. What kind of match are you anticipating
       on Sunday?
KD: Definitely a tough game for us. We take it one game at a time and this week our focus is on
Wimbledon. We know they have some very good and experienced players so this game we will
prepare for as well as we can.
WSS: You are also in the last sixteen of the Plate, is a good Cup run a big priority
       for Billericay this season?
KD: Yes! We love a cup run. Every game is a priority but it’s a time away from the league with
       another focus.
WSS: Is it fair to say that the team took a few games to find its feet in a higher level,
and what are your aims for the rest of the season in the league now?
KD: Yes it was a slow start to the season for us with new players coming in and also us finding
out very quickly that the pace and physicality of this league is different to that of Tier 4. The aim
for the rest of the season is to push on in this league, finish in a deserving place and enjoy the cup
       run.
WSS: Oxford have opened up a little gap at the top of the table but can you see the
title race being a close one?
KD: Who knows what will happen. Gaps open and gaps close. Looking at the quality of teams in
       this league, anything can happen.
Our thanks to Karissa! Photo - Nicky Hayes
