The top three all recorded similar victories on Sunday, meaning that Glasgow City have
edged close towards the title after a fine 2-0 victory over Hearts. Emily Whelan opened
the scoring two minutes before half time, with Amy Muir adding the second on the hour
to seal a result which keeps her side eight points clear at the top.
Celtic played host to Partick Thistle and also won 2-0, to ensure that the gap
between themselves and Glasgow City did not increase. Amy Gallacher gave Celtic a 38th
minute lead, before an own goal by Rosie Slater midway through the second half made
the points safe.
Rangers completed a trio of 2-0 victories for the title contenders, their result
coming at home to Hibernian. It was a similar story as well for the timings of the goals,
Kirsty Howat breaking the deadlock just ahead of the interval and Samantha Kerr
wrapping up the win with the second on 66 minutes.
Motherwell continue to head the bottom half despite being held to a 1-1 draw by
Dundee Utd, for whom the point was a valuable one. Tiree Burchill gave ‘Well the lead
ten minutes ahead of the break, with Danni McGinley earning United a share of the
spoils during the second half.
Spartans meanwhile narrowed the gap on Motherwell to two points, thanks to a
2-1 success away to Aberdeen. Eilidh Shore got Aberdeen off to a great start by putting
them ahead in the opening minute but two goals in a three minute spell in the second
half, from Amelie Birse and Caley Gibb, turned the match around in Spartans’ favour.
Hamilton Academical picked up a crucial 2-0 victory over Glasgow Women,
Eilidh Austin giving the Accies an early lead and Chloe Muir netting the second in the
opening minute of the second half.
