Manchester Utd are continuing to stretch the pace at the top after
recording a second successive 4-0 win, this time away to Brighton &
Hove Albion. Leah Galton gave United the lead after twelve minutes and
she netted a second midway through the second half, before Rachel
Williams and Lucia Garcia rounded off the victory with further goals late
on.
Chelsea climbed back up into second place by running out 3-0
winners at Aston Villa on Sunday night. The home side have acquitted
themselves well against the top four throughout the season but this time, Chelsea never really
looked back after taking the lead through Jelena Cankovic midway through the first half.
Guro Reiten doubled their advantage just before half time and Sam Kerr completed the
scoring after the break.
Arsenal came from behind to win 2-1 against Manchester City; bringing an end to
the Cityzens’ fourteen match unbeaten run and moving the teams level on points. Khadija
Shaw got City off to the perfect start by giving them a fifth minute lead but after the break,
Arsenal hit back strongly and goals from Frida Maanum and Katie McCabe completed a good
week for the Gunners and returned them to the top three.
Everton meanwhile narrowed the gap on fifth placed Aston Villa to five points, thanks
to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Nicoline Sorensen put Everton ahead with only
four minutes on the clock, with Eveliina Summanen equalising midway through the first half.
The game seemed to beading towards a draw until Aggie Beever-Jones scored the winner for
the Toffees, deep into injury time.
The points were shared at West Ham
