Northern Premier Division
Nottingham Forest emerged as 3-0 winners from
their top of the table clash with Burnley FC
Women and this saw them go six points in front at
the top. The Clarets had gone into the game with an unbeaten record but a goal in each
half from Sophie Domingo, plus a late strike by Mai Moncaster, has given Forest a huge
boost in the title race.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have moved back into second place, with two
games in hand, after they defeated Huddersfield Town 5-0. Jade Cross opened the
scoring for Wolves, before Beth Merrick netted a first half double. Destiney Toussaint put
them further in front just before the hour and Anna Morphet rounded off the scoring from
the penalty spot.
Derby County's hopes of getting back to winning ways were dashed as they were
held to a 1-1 draw by Brighouse Town, who remain one place below them. Marli
Rhodes-Andrews put the Ewes in front after twenty minutes, with Lucy Sowerby hitting
back with an equaliser during the second half.
Liverpool Feds took a huge stride towards safety by winning 3-0 away to
Loughborough Lightning. Molly Farley gave them an early lead which was doubled
after half time by Ellie Stewart, before Beth Donoghue wrapped up the win in injury time.
West Bromwich Albion also picked up an important victory, 3-2 at Stoke City
to put themselves six points ahead of the bottom two. Rosanna Embley, Kerry Walklett
and Meesha Dudley-Jones all got on the scoresheet for Albion, whilst Stoke replied
through Meg Bowyer and an own goal.
On Wednesday night, Burnley FC Women bounced back from their weekend
disappointment to win 2-1 at Huddersfield Town and go back up to second. Lara Miller
and Evie Priestley gave Burnley a two-goal lead at the break, with Town netting an injury
time consolation through Yasmin Mason.
Southern Premier Division
The top of the table clash between Ipswich Town and Oxford Utd was a victim of the
weather over the weekend and the main winners have been Watford, who won 5-2 away
to Plymouth Argyle to move to just behind the top two teams.
Argyle did get off to a great start when Amber Pollock gave them a second minute
lead but Watford hit back strongly, with Gemma Davison and Sophie McLean putting
them ahead at half time. An own goal increased their lead after the break and after
Charlotte Whitmore gave Plymouth hope by reducing the arrears, Annie-Lee Rossiter and
Faye Brough struck in quick succession to seal victory for Watford.
Portsmouth kept their hopes alive as they edged out Billericay Town by the odd
goal in seven. Annie Rolf was on target twice for Pompey - who are just four points off the
pace - along with Ella Humphrey and Jazz Younger, whilst Billericay replied via a Jess
King double and Lucy Jones.
Milton Keynes Dons returned to the top half of the table by running out 4-1
winners over Bridgwater Utd, who remain in the bottom two. Mollie Coupar netted a
brace for the Dons along with Tricia Gould and Laura Mitchell, whilst Bridgwater's
consolation came from Ellie Sara.
Cheltenham Town and Gillingham meanwhile met in something of a mid-table
clash and the spoils were shared as the match finished goalless, which means that the Gills
