the table.
Division One North
Durham Cestria have gone seven points
ahead at the top, thanks to a 3-1 victory
away to York City. Leanna Giles and Jen
Knowles put the Wildcats two goals ahead
at the break and Poppy Pritchard made it
three, before Jess Holder netted a late
consolation for York.
Durham had taken advantage of
Newcastle Utd's match against Barnsley
being postponed, which also gave
Stockport County the chance to replace Bradford City’s Chynna Harris tries to make a block from
Barnsley in the top three and they obliged Kahlen Watters of Hull City
with a 6-1 success at Middlesbrough. (Stephen Gaunt/Touchlinepics.com).
Rachel Davison spearheaded the win for
County with a four-goal haul whilst Lily Murphy and Emily Bradshaw were also on target,
with Jess Whitaker replying.
Chorley took a huge stride towards safety with a 3-1 victory against Leeds Utd.
All of the goals came in the first half, Chorley hitting back after Amy Woodruff had put
Leeds ahead to take three valuable points with goals from Kerry Nickson, Grace Foy and
Jessica Gillin.
Bradford City are out of the bottom two following a 1-0 win against Hull City.
The visitors had gone into the game on the back of a good run of form but a goal from
Sandra Martins was enough to give Bradford a third win in four matches and moved them
out of the danger zone at the expense of York City.
In midweek, goals from Holly Manders and Estelle Clark earned Norton &
Stockton Ancients a 2-0 victory over Leeds Utd in their mid-table clash, which narrows
the gap between the two teams to a single point.
Division One Midlands
Stourbridge are starting to close in on the title, moving closer to their target with a 4-0
victory over Leek Town. Alex Nicklin and Lexie Harrison put the Glassgirls two goals
ahead at the break, before they went on to add further goals through Millie Rogers and
Lois Jefferies.
Northampton Town and Doncaster Rovers Belles meanwhile battled out a
1-1 draw, which keeps the second placed Belles two points in front of their opponents.
Victoria Barrett was on target for Northampton, whilst the Belles netted through Jessica
Andrew.
On Thursday night, Solihull Moors shared a 1-1 draw with leaders Stourbridge,
who now require six more points from their final four games. Eva Rogers gave Moors a
fifteenth minute lead but there was late drama as Lois Jefferies scored an injury time
equaliser from the penalty spot, to extend Stourbridge's advantage at the top to ten points.
Sheffield FC banished any lingering relegation worries with an emphatic victory
against a depleted Long Eaton Utd side, for whom the season surely cannot end quickly
enough.
