The race for the Genero Adran Premier title is reaching its crescendo and could even have been
won on Sunday. Cardiff City Women hosted Cardiff Met Women, determined to put last
week’s Trophy Final loss to the Archers behind them, and it’s fair to say they exacted the revenge
they were aiming for with a 9-0 victrory. Danielle Broadhurst put the Bluebirds in front after just
seven minutes and she was then brought down in the area ten minutes later, Seren Watkins
slotting home the subsequent penalty. Eliza Collie added a third, followed by a brace from Rhiane
Oakley to make it 5-0 at half time. The second half started with some calm, but Collie wasn’t
finished, adding a second half hat-trick to take her tally to four and Meg Bowen also added her
       name to the scoresheet.
With Cardiff picking up three points, defeat for Swansea City would have seen their South
coast rivals taking the league title. The Swans hosted The New Saints who were hoping to find
the form that saw them beat Met recently. The hosts struck in the first minute through Katy
Hosford, with Lucie Platt finding an equaliser within ten minutes. Stacey John-Davies added two
in three minutes to make it 3-1 at the break and also put herself in top spot for the Golden Boot
award with three games to go. John-Davies was subbed for Monet Legall in the 64th minute but
she passed the scoring baton on as Legall added a fourth, to put the seal on a 4-1 victory.
Cardiff City will be crowned champions next week if they win. They can draw or lose and
also take the title, as long as they match or better Swansea’s result.
In the Plate Conference, the intrigue is no less exciting, as clubs fight for the mini-league
title and to avoid relegation. Aberystwyth Town were on the road to Abergavenny Women,
with both hoping to catch their respective team above; the Seasiders took the lead after fifteen
minutes with Emily Thomas turning in Bethan Roberts’ pass in what turned out to be the only
goal of the game, leaving them in contention
to take the Plate title. PREMIER DIVISION P W D L F A Pts GD
