Page 51 - Trip to Ireland Final Flip Book
P. 51
We turn and drive past miles of very
desolate landscape and finally get to the
park which is marked by four dolman
shaped stones. We drive in and for £1, you we get a ticket each
for the film and bus to the castle.
We have no time for the film
because it was almost 5 p.m.
and the castle closes at 6
p.m. We park and go right
to the bus and it takes us
along a lake with wild red-
purple rhododendrons
blooming on all sides. A
small island is almost
covered with them. It is still cloudy so pictures didn’t do the
place justice.
We go past several stone walls with gates with stone deer heads
and the gate to the castle is adorned with stone birds. The
castle is gray stone
(what else?) and
doesn’t look old but we
didn’t know the history
at that point so we
could only wonder why
anyone would build
such a huge place way
out there in the middle
of nothing.
