Our June Paroral Letter
is provided by Donalda Plowman
Member and Food Bank Volunteer
Our family in Nova Scotia are finally seeing the first signs of Spring,
but when we skype, the trees and grasses still look very bare,
whereas we’re enjoying some lovely bright days after the grey, wet
winter, with birds singing, fresh new growth everywhere and the
trees are full of a variety of shades of green.
I am writing this during Christian Aid week, the last week of
Eastertide. By the time you read this, we will have celebrated the
coming of the Holy Spirit at the Feast of Pentecost.
Christian Aid, with donations, the envelope scheme, and fund
raising, work towards a world where those in need can escape the
trap of poverty, bringing food security, better healthcare, safer
homes and hope for lasting change for their future. We trust and
have faith that the wonderful work of Christian Aid and their partner
agencies. which are a lifeline to many, will continue as long as it is
needed.
We reflect upon the work of Christian Aid this Spring, but it is close
to hearts at all times of the year.
Loving God,
you call on us to build your kingdom of justice, mercy, and truth.
It isn’t a task for the faint-hearted.
When we lose our sense of purpose, fill us with faith.
When we doubt or throw up our hands in despair, fill us with
hope.
When we pass by our neighbour as though we did not know
them,
Fill us with the love that turns us back and takes us to their aid.
We are fortunate to live in this lovely place, but there are problems
and worries for folk beneath the surface here too.
