WAREHAM UNITED REFORMED CHURCH
New Beginnings
Dear Friends,
After about 12 years as a serving Elder and 10 years as Church
Secretary, I have decided to take a back seat. Therefore, after our
AGM in February, I will be retiring. Over my time as Elder, we have
had two Ministers, lived through covid, and encountered numerous
other challenges. I would like to thank my colleagues past and
present for their support and encouragement.
Things have become increasingly difficult for my husband as his
health has deteriorated. It is difficult for me as his carer, because
I have health problems as well. I know there will be those amongst
you who have faced this situation already, or who are coping with
health problems now. Let us pray for each other as we take one
day at a time.
For myself, I have often felt like one of the psalmists who asked
God why these things are happening. However the love and
support I have received from others shows that God's spirit is still
alive in the world. The truth is that most of us are living much
longer than in past history and that takes its wear and tear on this
fragile structure, our body.
I am hoping that God has some more challenges for me, so I am
thinking of this change as a new beginning, not just an end. It has
been a privilege to have served the church in Wareham as
Secretary and Elder. My computer skills have certainly improved a
bit! I will still be writing in the magazine and sometimes leading
worship in Wareham.
I hope 2025 is all you want it to be.
Every blessing
Janet
