Cake
         chosen by Hazel Dawkins

In times of trouble or despair
It has to be a smooth Eclair
Companion to a cup of coffee?
A hefty slice of rich Banoffee

A pot of tea will not suffice
         Without a lush Vanilla Slice
In Sundays in a lazy bed

It has to be Banana Bread
         Relaxing on a morning break
         Battenburg or Carrot Cake
Feelin' tired or just can't budge

Try a wedge of Chocolate Cake
To finish off, a Petit Fours

A taste to worship and adore

To Mum Christmas Thumb Cake Jacqueline Shirtiff

                   Love

                  Leah I wonder if others
                                                       have just as much bother

                                                       when doing their Christmas bake?

                                                       It happens each time
                                                       with the orange and lime
                                                       however much care I take

As I grate off the rind
                                                       I‘m always inclined
to add bits of my thumb to the cake.
                                                                             ……………...
