Iris Florence Wickens

                 18th September 1920 ~15th March 2024

The War Years – Became secretary to one of
       Montgomery’s Generals and attended meetings
in the amphitheatre below London with P.M.
Churchill. The entry points then were secret but I
did find out that one point was near Hyde Park
       Corner.

Post War – She found work as stipendiary to the fiduciary – she
was P.A. to a lawyer trying to replace property and land to the
       legal owners.

       1945 – 50 - Left London for Swanage – Bought number 2 Spring
Hill and opened a Guest House. It was all going well until, in a
dream, Dad heard the Fire Engine bell. He went to the window and
fell out two stories and fractured his back – he did recover but it
took time leaving her to get all
         1.Early morning cups of tea
         2.Breakfast and clean up
         3.Tidy rooms and make beds
4.Saturday change over and laundry and of course looking after
            Dad

1970 - Applied for secretarial job at Fortes and was very happy
there right up until her retirement. It was at this time that she also
       moved up to Gannetts Park.

1990 - 20 years later Rydal Cottage, Locarno Road came up for
sale and she moved again. Oddly enough this home lasted for 20
years too, until my father died and she moved into Victoria Court
overlooking the Sandpit Field, the sea and Old Harry Rocks –
another very happy time in her life but as she got older a Rest
Home was required and she chose Gainsborough where she
       remained until the end.

Memory – My father was gardening in the front of the house at
Rydal Cottage and mother at the back with the raspberries,
