It was fitting then that one of the final sanctioned
events was set to be an April autocross jointly
hosted by the MINI Club of South Florida, and Club
Braman. The occasion encapsulated exactly what
PBIR stood for—a safe and invigorating space to live
out participants’ automotive fantasies; improving
their skills, challenging friends, and learning from
mentors, including former professional driver
and current Porsche West Palm Beach Brand
Ambassador Freddy Rhemrev.

While there’s no accounting for exactly how many
souls passed through those front gates over nearly
six decades, it’s likely their collective memories
outnumber even the remaining fauna who stand
guard over the grounds. Their omnipresent hum,
though a gallant impression, nonetheless falls short of
the rumbles and howls that once pierced the electric
air of their home. Palm Beach International Raceway
is no more, but the love for automobiles that inspired
its inception is immortalized in the hearts of the Club
Braman members, and all South Florida enthusiasts,
who knew it best.
