RECALL YOUR LAST NIGHT’S
ROUTINE. Once the lights went out,
did your phone unlock? Did you
turn on the TV? Did you reach for a
sleep aid and a glass of water? Was
your slumber restful or restless?
Though we all partake in it every
day—or rather, night—sleep’s
overall affect on our health often
goes ignored. Fitting in enough
between work, family, and other
obligations can be tough; doubly so
amid the ever-present draw of South
Florida’s 24-hour entertainment.
Perhaps catching some Z’s is all
the easier in other portions of the
country where temperatures plunge
far below 75 degrees.
Seven years ago, Dr. Fritz Jean-
Noel was weathering yet another
frigid Minnesota winter. His work
counseling patients in St. Paul was
heartwarming. The climate however,
was decidedly not. A change was
necessary, and a move to downtown
West Palm Beach, bringing him
closer to his snowbird parents, was
just what the doctor ordered. He
set up his practice and assumed the
sunshine would allow him to rest
easier—but he quickly discovered
that poor sleep was a recurring
nightmare among his patients.
