IN AN EMERGENCY, THERE ARE PRECIOUS few seconds to waste. First responders must rely on
their training and instincts to protect or save lives. The last thing on their minds are municipal
budgets, fundraising events, or when the new firing range might be completed.

However, each of these are no less important for the jobs that police officers and firefighters perform for our
communities. While the citizenry at large is ill-equipped to face the situations our first responders confront every
day, these brave men and women are similarly inexperienced with the intricacies of business. Fortunately two Palm
Beach citizens, who happen to be quite experienced businessmen, have taken the initiative necessary to support the
local public safety personnel. The results have been nearly immediate.
Co-founders of the Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation—Chairman/CEO John F. Scarpa and President Tim
Moran—originally met as members of the Fraternal Order of Police.
