HPK: Definitely in New Orleans. Baton Rouge is definitely very different than that scene, but one
thing I do notice is that just the musicianship here is so high. The musicians you run into and the
kind of sound they have within them because they're from here, definitely very special.

BiTS: Have you put together your own band now?

HPK: Oh, yes. So because I was
working with a lot of the people up in
Rochester, of course, I needed some
musicians to work with here. But
that's the thing, here I have so many
options when it comes to great
musicians to work with, and I

                                                                        definitely have already had some
people that I’d love to take on the road.
Actually, I’d love to also take them to
Rochester because it’s where I've been
and it will be fun, I think. So yeah, I
have some ideas and some people that
have been supportive, so I’ve got to
                                                                        just make things happen.

Hanna with Miguel Hernandez BiTS: I see from your pages that you
play a lot with Miguel Hernandez. He's
                                                                        also a piano player?

HPK: No, actually, that was like a little, I guess, playful post that I posted a picture of him playing
the piano, but actually, he's a bass player. I don't know if you're familiar, but there's a great blues
man named Larry Garner. He was touring with him for many years.

BiTS: And do you play the guitar too?

HPK: Oh, I just play around. I mean, I'm too shy to say I play the guitar, but it's fun, and I try
    [laughs].

BiTS: Let's talk about your album, which actually is probably at least a year old, “Blues All Over
    My Shoes”.

HPK: Oh, yeah, it's a few years old.

BiTS: Have you got a new one coming out?

HPK: Well, that's what I'm working on. Instead of rushing into the next album, I really wanted
the next album to really show the development and just all the things I've gone through this past

few years, real crazy years for me, both good and bad. I just really wanted the next album to be
strong and so I'm just kind of taking my time, but I've been writing new songs and I'm really
actually itching to do it, so I’ve got to really get on that.

BiTS: Okay, when you went into the studio to make “Blues All Over My Shoes”, were you fully
prepared? Did you go into the studio with everything planned, or did you make it up as you went
    along?

HPK: That's funny. It's actually like, yes and no. When it comes to what songs to do, I pretty
much knew all the songs that I wanted to try. As you've seen on the album, besides one song, it's
all my original songs, but everything else I had no idea. The thing is, see, I've never even been to
