His body was taken back to the US, where he was buried in Forest Lawn Memorial
Park Cemetery, Glendale, California.
Throughout his career he played a wide range of guitars, from Gibson archtops, to
Fenders, both Telecaster (1950s) and Stratocaster (1960s), and from the 70s an
array of Gibson solids, including SGs, ES335, ES347 and Explorer, but he still
retained his signature sound and style. Indeed, his music lives on into the 21st
century, with his songs being sampled by such as Ice-Cube, Jay Z, and Mary J. Blige.
