UK Blues Awards.
BiTS: Hi Neil. That's wonderful. I’ll tell
you what I want to do, I want to talk to
you, of course about the record and your
future, but also about where you come
from. Your website is not very
forthcoming about growing up and
learning to play and all that sort of thing.
So let's start there.
NS: Okay.
BiTS: Tell me something about your
upbringing. Was there a lot of music in
your family?
NS: Do you know what, I'd never really
thought about that question until just
now, but not really, is the answer. I
would say that my dad, at Christmas
time, would play harmonica and he
would play Christmas carols on the
harmonica, which is something until you
just mentioned, that I'd forgotten all
about. My mum was, I guess if she wasn’t musical, she was certainly a fan of music.
We had a lot of records in the house. She would always be buying things. I mean
back in the early 60s, The Beatles was a big thing in her life and obviously it rubbed
off on me a little bit, I guess. She was always bringing things home; records home
and stuff like that. No blues stuff, that happened to me much later.
BiTS: On the other hand, when did you start to play the guitar?
