Mercedes Nicole—Fire and Solitude—Own Label
                                          (EP)

Singer Mercedes celebrates the Christmas holidays with

this very tasty four-track EP release, a couple of new
compositions and two Charles Brown covers. The

opening two tracks just ooze sensuality – the
“provocation” mentioned in the pre-release blurb - the

two Charles Brown covers are spot-on blues, and the

final track is a very fine Chicago-flavoured blues groove.

Mercedes’ distinctive vocals just hit the spot throughout, and the backing musicians

provide totally appropriate backings in a jazzy blues style that’s hard to find these
days. Highly recommended, and Mercedes’ own thoughts on each track are below.

    Norman Darwen

    1) ‘Close’ - Original Composition- this song is about finally letting go of the material

side of Christmas and embracing peace of mind. I love gifts, but I love Romance &
Solitude even more. Give me your undivided attention, romance me, and let's go

away where it's just the two of us. Unplug, unwind and cuddle by the fireplace. Turn
    off your cell phone.

    2) ‘Merry Christmas Baby’ There's nothing more romantic than someone making
you his own. Let's face the world together. This song is so sexy... diamonds just say,

“I'm yours!”. Yes, it does contradict the first song in a way, but honestly, life is about
    contradictions.

    3) ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’ - Is Classic! I've never needed a crowd, but I
need that special someone. So come home baby, and I know I can face tomorrow.
Christmas was not meant to be something you experience in isolation - it's an

experience that needs to be shared: Christ was God’s gift to the world.

    4) ‘Read My Christmas List’ - Original Composition. I'm introducing myself to Blues

Lovers all over the world. I'm from the South; outside of land, we never had much,
but I want to sing all over the globe - like B.B. King, Muddy, Willie Dixon, Eric Bibb.

Life is what you make it, it's whatever you choose, but we got to love one
another, without love we're all going to lose. So if you're not down with that...don't

even think about stepping my way! I want to surround myself with folks who believe
in possibilities and make things happen. And who love all people.
